The Courtauld: Monet and London. Views of the Thames

Claude Monet (1840 – 1926) is considered the archetypal painter of the Impressionist movement. Throughout most of his career he painted landscapes in the open air, which are full of evocative atmosphere, mysterious light and radiant colour.

The launch of our latest cards coincides with The Courtauld’s major Exhibition:  Monet and London. Views of the Thames, 17 Sept 2024 – 19 Jan 2025. The subject matter depicting Charing Cross Bridge, Waterloo Bridge and the Houses of Parliament, many of which were painted from the balconies of the Savoy Hotel.  The London paintings have never before been the subject of a UK Exhibition.
